In 11 of the 18 competitions at the State Class 1A Athletics Competition in Gainesville, the Holy Trinity girls are second only to the Cambridge Christians in the team standings.
The title of state champion Evelyn VanZviten in javelin throw and finish 2-4-6 Mabel Mutumwa, VanZviten and Lily McCarthy respectively accounted for 26 of the Tigers ’31 points so far.
The Holy Trinity led in nine events.
Jonathan Bailey has won the only medal for boys at the Melbourne School so far, fifth place in the 100th. Maya Collins took fourth place in the 100 girls.

State Athletics Class 1A

Softball
The astronaut lost his regional quarterfinal game in Class 4A softball on Wednesday with a score of 8-1 from South Sumter. The War Eagles gave up four runs at the top of the third and were unable to return.
Raider and gait errors led to the astronaut’s third inning after two exits. The War Eagles, champions of the 8-3A district, finished the season 14-7.
Bayside, Holy Trinity and Rockledge are also playing tonight, with the Raiders at home against Horizon at 7 p.m.
Baseball
Tonight, four baseball teams are competing: Astronaut, MCC, Merritt Island and Satellite. All four teams play outside the county. Check the results.
