NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (WABC) — The mask mandate is back in place for a portion of Rutgers University after being waived in the latest update to the COVID policy.
Students and staff will again be required to wear face masks in libraries and some classrooms.
This comes after Rutgers lifted its indoor mask mandate on all three campuses last week.
Teachers’ unions quickly objected and appealed the decision.
The mask mandate remains in effect until the New Jersey Public Affairs Commission makes a final decision on the mandate.
Around 43,000 cases of COVID-19 are reported daily across the country, with more than 330 deaths per day.
