VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — The City of Valdosta responded to a broken sewer line Thursday.

The line break was in the 2400 block of Hornta Road, according to the city.

A seal failure on the discharge side of the lift station resulted in the release of wastewater. The damaged seal was discovered and repaired by city crews.

The city of Valdosta estimates 127,750 gallons of emissions were released.

City crews worked through the night to collect some of the sewage. City crews took up cleaning of dumping sites.

City officials note that all relevant regulatory and health authorities have been notified and warning signs have been posted.
