A son is accused of killing his father after a driver found a dismembered body on the side of a road in Maryland, authorities say.

Shortly after a man was reported missing, a driver alerted deputies to a dismembered body lying on the side of a road in Maryland, according to authorities.

It is believed to be the body of 58-year-old Maganbhai Pansuriya from Westminster, and now his the son faces charges of murderaccording to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

Ravi Maganbhai Pansuriya, 29, was arrested after detectives searched his father’s home on Sunday, Oct. 2, after discovering a body with multiple stab wounds, according to an Oct. 3 news release.

He was charged with first- and second-degree murder, police said.

While deputies were responding to a report of Maganbhai Pansuriya missing, a driver came across a dismembered body believed to be his on the shoulder of the New Windsor Pike, the sheriff’s office said.

The body is yet to be identified, police said.

As of Oct. 3, Ravi Pansuriya was in custody at the Carroll County Detention Center awaiting an appointment with a circuit court commissioner, the release said.

As the homicide investigation continues, the sheriff’s office is asking the public with any information to contact the office at 410-386-5900 or Detective Devin Herald at djherold@carrollcountymd.gov.

No other information was released by the sheriff’s office.
