The Tallahassee Police Department received a “help package” from the local chapter of the American Sewing Guild on Wednesday.
More than 50 handmade comfort bears have been donated to TPD so they can distribute them to children they encounter in potentially traumatic situations.
“I think it gives the kids a good perspective that we’re there to help and people care about them,” said Officer David Alford. “These are traumatic situations for them and they are very upset. It shows them that there are people who care and understand.”
This was not the first delivery of this kind. The American Sewing Guild has been supplying these comfort bears for years.
