We now know who was the victim of the deadly shooting in Lehigh Acres. A 24-year-old woman has been shot, and now her family is talking about what kind of person she is.
The shooting took place at a house in Leahy Acres, and a 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with her murder.
We know the 24-year-old victim’s name is Shanis. WINK News spoke to members of her family and they told us they spent most of the day mourning and figuring out the funeral arrangements.
Deputies responded to the shooting late Thursday night on Truman Avenue in Leahy Acre. Very close family members of the victim told me they were at home when the shooting occurred.
A family member spoke to us, but preferred to remain anonymous.
“I only see my granddaughter on the floor and she’s not breathing,” she said.
Shanis’ mother found her daughter lying on the street, out of breath, and had to pull her up. Today they showed WINK News where the bullets hit their house. The Shanis family said she was so young, her whole life ahead and couldn’t understand why anyone did it.
She says, “I can’t believe it, I can’t believe it, I want justice for my granddaughter, I want justice for my granddaughter, she was a happy person.”
She says: “She had two children, she had to live a life for someone to come, sneak into the property and kill her right in front of our door and they give him a connection. I feel the impact of what happened to my granddaughter’s granddaughter on the floor, and she’s not breathing. ”
Police detained the suspect. His name is Justin De’Angelo Coplan, and he appeared before a judge who set his bail at $ 765,000 on charges of murder and destruction of evidence.
