Five people have been forced to leave their homes due to a fire in a barn in North Fort Myers.

The North Fort Myers Fire says one person received minor burns but was not taken to hospital. The dog was caught in the fire but was not injured.

A North Fort Myers public information official said the fire was caused by heat from a generator.

The fire occurred in McDaniel’s car and then spread to three tourists in the area. All three vacationers – a complete loss.

The Red Cross said it was providing immediate assistance to help the victims begin the path to recovery.
