A 25-year-old man was visiting his girlfriend and family when he drowned while swimming near the Corpus Christi Lake pier, officials said.

A 25-year-old man visited his girlfriend in a Texas park when he went underwater while swimming and never surfaced, authorities said.

The last time the guy was seen alive was swimming near c Pier Corpus Christi Piersaid San Patricia County Sheriff Oscar Rivera in a Facebook post.

He said on Sunday, June 5, officers from Lake Corpus Christi State Park, Texas Parks and Wildlife and the San Patricia Sheriff’s Office were called. That same evening in the water the man’s body helped find sonar equipment.

“Our sincere condolences to the family,” Rivera said.

The man was on a trip from his hometown of Menor, near Austin, about 170 miles north of the lake. He was not publicly identified by the authorities.
