Feel the contagious energy Viva Brevard, the county’s annual celebration of Hispanic culture, food and music. The event will take place on October 15, at the height of Hispanic Heritage Month.
The party starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 7 p.m. at Fred Pope Regional Park, 1951 Malabar Rd., Palm Bay. Entrance is free.
“We will have great entertainment, delicious food, exhibitors, vendors and more,” said Javier Molinares, president of the Brevard Hispanic Center.
“An explosion of excitement is guaranteed!”
The festival draws visitors from all over Brevard.
“We estimate that about 3,000 people will join the celebration,” Molinares added.

Expect a hearty taste of Latin cuisine at Brevard’s best Hispanic restaurants. But don’t worry about consuming too many calories because live music will be pulsating throughout the day to keep your salsa, merengue, bachata and bomba skills going. Colorfully dressed cultural dance groups will also perform throughout the day.
As for the little visitors of the festival, they should be occupied and entertained by the children’s zone.
Hot weather should not be a problem. Although the festival has a large outdoor presence, the park’s air-conditioned building will host the Business Expo, which attendees can use to cool off while perusing displays from businesses, government groups and community organizations.
Outdoor tents with plenty of seating to take the strain off dance-weary feet will also be available.
Proceeds from the festival benefit the nonprofit Brevard Hispanic Center with its many programs available to both Hispanic and non-Hispanic audiences. Headquartered in Palm Bay, the Brevard Latino Center helps individuals and families with education, health care, family issues, immigration and economic empowerment.
Having fun helping others is a pretty good way to spend a day, don’t you think?
