ESPN football analyst Troy Aikman has apologized for a sexist comment he made during Monday Night Football on October 10.

After a stunning pass rusher’s call during the second quarter of a game between the Raiders and the Chiefs, Aikman expressed dissatisfaction with the officials with a comment that some consider misogynistic.

“I hope the competition committee looks at it in the next meetings and, you know, we’ll take the dresses off,” the Hall of Fame quarterback and Cowboy legend said after Chiefs quarterback Derek Carr was sacked by Chris Jones.

Aikman made the remarks Thursday, Oct. 13, on 96.7 The Ticket.

“My comments were dumb, they just shouldn’t have been made,” Aikman said during a radio appearance, according to several news outlets including Dallas Morning News and New York Post. “Just dumb remarks on my part.”

The three-time Super Bowl champion’s comment took Twitter by storm with a swift and strong reaction.

Others protected him.

Aikman is a freshman a five-year, $90 million contract from ESPN.
