The truck crashed into the Stater Bros. Market. Market in Rialto, injuring up to eight people as shoppers fled, California police said.

Toyota Tundra pickup truck crashed at Stater Bros. Market. Market in Rialto, eight people were injured, California police told news outlets.

People in the store ran away and pigeon for the cover when a pickup truck crashed into the front of the store, hitting three cash registers, police told KABC.

The an incident occurred at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, when a 74-year-old woman parked outside mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal, police told KTLA.

Eight people were taken to local hospitals for injuries ranging from moderate to severe, police told KCBS.

The driver was among the injured, KTLA reports.

“I was just asking to use the bathroom, but when I heard this bang and then I saw a car drive by… I was actually running and the car was following me and I ducked. I dove right, he went left,” David Romo told KABC.

Rialto is a city of nearly 105,000 people just north of Riverside, about 55 miles east of Los Angeles.
