New movie about Emmett Thiel hits theaters next week, and the lead actor who plays the role says he’s learned some lessons — both about himself and those around him.
Actor Jalene Hall — who plays Emmett in the upcoming film Till — was on hand at the New York Film Festival premiere on Saturday to sign autographs … he answered a few questions about the role and his thoughts on such an important historical figure.
First, JH says that there are definitely a lot of expectations when it comes to a performance like this, but adds that he didn’t really sweat much and just did his best… noting that it was an honor to be a part of the production .
Now, when it comes to what he got out of that story — one that undoubtedly changed America’s trajectory in terms of civil rights — Jalin has a pretty pointed answer.
He says that being yourself is never wrong and that you can’t give up on it, adding that you should let your light shine. That being said, however, it also makes sure to point out that there is evil in the world…and a little situational awareness goes a long way.
See for yourself…what Jaleen says actually echoes what his on-screen mother is in the role of Daniel Deadweilerwho is said to be fantastic – tells Emmett in the movie … namely “to be small” when he visits his family in Mississippi.
