Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usyk retained his World Heavyweight titles with a split decision victory Anthony Joshua on Saturday in a rematch in Saudi Arabia that was closer than last year’s opener.
Both fighters held the blue-yellow Ukrainian flag during the reading of the judges’ scores at the King Abdullah Sport City arena. When Usyk was announced as the winner, he hid his face behind the flag.
Usyk, 35, retained his WBA, WBO and IBF belts six months after serving in the Ukrainian army to defend the country against Russian invasion.
