Inverted snowboarder, buried alive by snow, saved from suffocation

Dramatic video shows how a snowboarder who was buried alive upside down in the snow is rescued by a skier who happened to see a snowboard sticking out of the snow.

It happened near Mount Baker in Washington State near the Canadian border. The skier used his avalanche rescue training to dig out the snowboarder.

The skier properly excavated the victim’s head to clear his airway before the rest of the snowboarder’s body was freed from the snow.

The video shows the moment the buried snowboarder is able to breathe again, showing how dire the situation was before rescuers arrived.

It is not yet known whether the snowboarder was injured.
