DOUGLASTON, Queens (WABC) — On Wednesday, residents gathered outside Rep. George Santos’ office in Queens to demand that Congress take action to oust him.

Members of Concerned Citizens of NY-03 are calling on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to bring a resolution to expel Santos to the House floor for a vote.

Protesters say Santos’ lies about his background and heritage make him unfit to serve.

If he doesn’t resign, they say, he needs to be removed so people in their district can get their needs met in Washington.

“Perhaps you have forgiven yourselves, but we have not forgiven and we will not,” said one of the participants of the rally.

“At the end of the day, George Santos is nothing more than a renegade, he has no confidence in his fellow Republicans and in the House of Representatives,” Jane Russell said. “So how is he going to fight for me and for everything that I need as his constituent.”

In his tweet, Santos wrote: “Let me be very clear, I am not leaving, I am not hiding and I am NOT backing down.”

He says he will continue to work for his district and added that he looks forward to seeing what needs to be done.
