Leave it Charlie Puth to make a sexy song sound even sexier. The “Light Switch” singer recently covered Sam Smith and Kim Petros Famous TikTok Anthem “Unholy” on SiriusXM, and his stripped down rendition of the synth track has us feeling a little hot under the collar. Before his performance, Puth told the audience: “I love this song, I love the people involved in this song and I just spoke to Sam this morning and said [them] He added: “Hopefully I can do it justice,” before breaking down his version.
Accompanied only by acoustic guitar, Putt’s vocals are smooth as silk shone as he belted out the entire song from start to finish without missing a beat—yes, he even included Petras’ sped-up solo verse. We never knew we needed to hear him sing the line “Daddy, daddy, if you want to, drop Addie,” but now that we did, it was ingrained in our brains from that moment on.
“Unholy” gained attention once Smith and Petros began teasing it on TikTok in August, inspiring hot dance challenge even before the full version was released on September 22nd. Joint track recently took first place on the Billboard Hot 100, making Smith and Petras the first openly non-binary and transgender artists to top the chart, respectively. Fans can expect Smith to sing it during her Gloria tour of the UK and Europe next year.
