Will Smith maybe he’ll be back in action sooner rather than later – his key project that’s been on hold seems to be on its way to seeing the light of day after all…that’s after a solid check.
A beleaguered actor who is still trying to rebuild his image Oscar’s slap — was at the NAACP-sponsored Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 51st Annual Legislative Conference on Saturday … with a ton of honchos there, too.

WS was standing next to the principal Antoine Fuquawho was behind the helm of their new movie Emancipation , explaining to viewers why he’s been so averse to slave movies throughout his career … but noted that he didn’t really see the film through that lens, himself by itself.
Will says this film is, more than anything, about perseverance and determination – and just the will to survive and be free. He also talked about the character he’ll be portraying, “Whipped Peter,” whose photos from the 1800s (which show the scars on his back) went viral in their time.
As for the movie itself…that being said, it’s incredible and very powerful – a lot of people are touting its importance to African American culture and America as a whole.
Teases the hype surrounding “Emancipation” ahead of Will’s release Chris Rock on national television — there’s been a lot of talk about the Oscars, and based on how people are reacting … it looks like it could still happen — even if Will won’t be able to attend any of the ceremonies.
I enjoyed watching the movie #Emancipation and I can’t tell you how powerful it is for OUR community and OUR history. It is a story of adversity, resilience, love and triumph.
Thanks to Antoine Fuqua and Will Smith for sharing their gifts!#ThisIsPower

As we all know … the guy was banned from attending an Academy Award show for 10 years. Assuming Apple releases this thing in the next decade – which they probably will – and WS is actually competitive…someone else is going to have to get up there to get any possible wins.
No word on when “Emancipation” might hit streaming services, but if they’re already previewing it and getting solid reviews … something tells us it could be within the year.
