NEW YORK (WABC) – Both coasts of the United States have had anything but a normal winter this season.

New York and most of the tri-state area saw little to no snow. To the west, however, the landscape is more like a typical east coast winter.

on monday night part of California in preparation for another snowfall forecast to hit the area in the coming days.

That’s because people are still trapped in the Sierra Nevada mountains, where more than three feet of snow fell in less than 24 hours last weekend.

The season’s snowfall total now stands at 48.33 feet, surpassing the 2016-2017 winter total.

New York was expected to see a wintry mix Monday through Tuesday, but with only minimal supply for much of the area.

Eyewitness News meteorologist Jeff Smith and ABC’s Melissa Adan talk about the wild weather we’re seeing on both sides of the country.
