GLEN COVE, Long Island (WABC) — A woman faces up to four years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing a New York State Lottery jackpot from her cousin.
The Nassau County Prosecutor’s Office says the victim won a $1 million prize on a 2020 scratch-off ticket.
Wishing to remain anonymous, he offered his cousin, Iris Amador Argeto, $50,000 to come from Virginia and cash the ticket.
Authorities say she then presented him with forged documents claiming he only won $20,000.
He learned the truth when he came across a press release about the award.
