According to federal officials, Jonathan High, a deacon from Florida, filmed two young boys in a church bathroom.
A deacon recorded young boys using the bathroom at a Florida church where he worked, federal prosecutors say.
Jonathan High, a 30-year-old deacon, was convicted on October 4 of two counts of child abuse produce child pornography, according to an Oct. 5 press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida. Hai previously pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography.
The conviction came after law enforcement officials received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in August 2021 that told them the user was uploading files of child pornography, officials said. Investigators said they determined the user was High.
Investigators searched Hai’s phone and desktop computer and found images and videos of child pornography, according to a press release.
High produced some of the pornography in his possession, including videos of two young boys at Perry’s church, where he served as a deacon, the release said.
Hai’s lawyers refused to comment on the case.
He faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum combined sentence of 70 years, the release said.
Perry is about 50 miles southeast of Tallahassee.
