When asked if she would ever consider bringing her character back Melanie Smutter for sequel to Sweet Home Alabama., she said she was totally game. “I hope so. I think that would be a great idea,” Witherspoon said during her Oct. 4 appearance on “Today with Hodai and Jenna” after host Hoda Kotb asked about a potential reboot.

“Will you participate in this? We’re just trying to showcase some things,” host Jenna Bush Hager quickly continued. “Maybe. I don’t know. That sounds fun. Do you want me to do it?” – asked Witherspoon in the audience, receiving a lot of enthusiastic applause in response. “Okay, I’ll call,” she joked.

When asked about his next film in 2018, Lucas said:Conversation” that he would “do it in a second,” doubling down on his 2021 announcement, saying, “Reese, come on, let’s do it” during SiriusXM Pop culture in the spotlight. “Are they still together? Are they divorced? Do they want to be together again? I mean, there’s so many different ideas that I think, you know, we all know that life is long and complicated, and they had an interesting relationship to start with the two characters,” Lucas explained.
