A 29-year-old man is accused of shooting his girlfriend’s mother to death after she threw him out of the family’s home, police in Texas say.

The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in San Antonio, where a 46-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to a preliminary police report. She told officers the suspect, who is her daughter’s boyfriend, fled through the back door of the home.

Police told KSAT that the suspect “was staying with the family, but (the woman who was shot) wanted him to leave and ordered him to leave the house.” The shooting happened while the daughter was at workWOAI reports.

A second victim, a 17-year-old male, was also involved, police said. He told officers the suspect taped him shut and locked him in a barn, then shot his mother with a rifle.

It is unclear what the 17-year-old boy’s relationship is to the suspect and the woman.

Police said the mother was hospitalized and is in stable condition. Officers continued to search for the suspect Wednesday afternoon.
