The Fort Myers Police Department arrested 27-year-old Keitha Gaymon on Sunday, who was wanted for various alleged crimes.
Gaymon was already wanted for battery on a pregnant woman, robbery and car theft, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.
On Sunday, FMPD detectives went to 2828 Jackson St. in Fort Myers looking for Gaymon. Detectives saw him sitting in a vehicle Gaymon had stolen during the robbery. When detectives tried to pull Gaymon from the vehicle, Gaymon sped out of the parking lot.
As Gaymon sped away from the parking spot, his car hit the detective. The detective who was injured was not injured in the ordeal.
After trying to run from law enforcement, Gaymon crashed into a fence and began to flee on foot.
With the help of the Fort Myers Police Canine Unit, Gaymon was located and arrested at 2811 Central Avenue.
Gaymon suffered an ankle injury after jumping a fence in an attempt to escape law enforcement.
Gaymon was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injury and was later checked out and taken to the Lee County Jail.
Gaymon was charged with battery on a pregnant woman, robbery, carjacking, battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated escape, resisting arrest and driving without a license.
