Nevada State Police said complaints of a “foul odor” coming from a BMW parked in Las Vegas in August led to an arrest in the death of a missing man.

The officers were arrested 37-year-old man Sept. 29 in San Diego County, California, as a suspect in the case, Las Vegas police said in a news release.

The investigation began when odor complaints According to McClatchy News, on August 19, a decomposing body was found in the trunk of a white BMW in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Authorities later the deceased was identified like Amir Haghi, who went missing in Arizona in June. Hagi was shot in the head, coroner’s officials said.

Police did not explain how the investigation led to the arrest in California. They will seek the man’s extradition to Las Vegas, according to a press release.
