Lil Nas X isn’t limiting his fashion choices anymore! The 23-year-old rapper and entertainer has shown and shown when it comes to his personal style. From gold armor to risqué outfit changes, the Mantera star has been a billboard for fearlessness and swagger.
In a recent interview with PEOPLELil Nas X explained his definition of personal style.
Style is a form of self-expression. It’s a way of showing people who you are, or at least how you want them to perceive you. I want to move on in life, I need to shed my skin and do what I wouldn’t normally do.”
However, Nas recently revealed that he is afraid to wear a skirt in his hometown of Atlanta, where his family and loved ones will be in attendance to watch him perform.
I was so nervous going on stage in front of my family and everyone in my cute little Coach skirt. But once I got out, I felt like I was releasing my younger self. Afterwards, my family – many of whom had previously believed the opposite of what was happening on that stage – told me they were really proud. I feel like I’m making a difference.”
As usual, Lil Nas X put on an energetic and provocative show worth paying for, but encountered some hiccups during another tour. While preparing for his show in Boston, Nas said he was met by religious protesters holding signs that read, “Jesus is God, even the demons know it” and “Repent and believe in the gospel.”
Nas got one of the crew members to offer pizza to the protesters, which they refused.
One of the protesters was actually very nice and I called him out on Twitter but never heard back. He’s either laughing or having a really hard time in the group chat right now!”
