According to local news reports, when the semi truck driver left a Kansas shipyard heading south toward Oklahoma, he had no idea someone was holding on to his trailer.

He drove over 100 miles before other drivers on Interstate 35 got his attention by flashing their headlights, KOTV reported. Others called 911.

According to the Guthrie News Page, Logan County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene near Guthrie, Oklahoma around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, October 3rd.

A 30-year-old man from Kansas was seen standing on the back rails of the trailer. hung on a pole on the door, reports the news site.

The authorities found out about him The trip started in Wichitaaccording to KFOR, and he was “just hanging in the back.”

“It’s a good thing we were able to stop him and save the person who was in the back of the safe because it could have been a fatal mistake,” Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Foster told the station.

Guthrie is about 130 miles south of Wichita.

Footage obtained by KOTV shows a state trooper holding onto the trailer and trying to figure out how the man managed to get that far.

“He was just holding on to the rails on the back of the trailer,” Foster said of the 30-year-old man.

It is still unclear why he jumped onto the truck, KFOR reports. Foster added that “there are a few different stories as to why” and the case is still under investigation.

The man was booked into the Logan County Jail at 4:15 a.m., according to booking reports. He faces charges of public intoxication and revelry.

McClatchy News reached out to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for more information, but reports were not immediately available.
