A Texas grandmother turned her grandson in to police after he shot a man, San Antonio police say.
A Texas teenager shot and killed his sister’s boyfriend and fled the scene of the crime, but his grandmother wouldn’t let him get far, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
A 16-year-old boy used drugs together with his sister’s 21-year-old boyfriend in his apartment in southwest of San Antonio around 6 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, near Lackland Air Force Base, SAPD said in a release.
An argument broke out between the two, and the teenager shot his sister’s boyfriend in the right thigh with a gun, the release said.
The teenager fled the apartment, but “minutes later” his grandmother turned him in to police, bringing him to a substation on the city’s south side along with the gun he allegedly used in the shooting, SAPD said.
He was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The victim was taken to the hospital, but police did not say what his condition was.
An investigation is underway.
