10 injured after police car collides with car and jumps curb in Foxhurst, Bronx

FOXHURST, Bronx (WABC) — Police say 10 people were injured after a police car went out of control in the Bronx on Thursday afternoon.

The incident was reported at Hoe and Westchester avenues around 3 p.m

An NYPD cruiser was responding to a report of a burglary. Traffic was stopped, so they turned on their lights and sirens and tried to go around.

At the same time, the green traffic light came on and the oncoming car collided with a police car.

Due to the force of the impact, the cruiser flew onto the sidewalk, where pedestrians were injured.

About eight people were injured, both pedestrians and people in another car.

Two police officers were also treated but were OK.

Of the eight other injured, six were taken to district hospitals, and two refused treatment. The injuries are not life-threatening.

Few other details have been released.
