Florida Power and Light has updated the schedule for power restoration in various parts of Southwest Florida.

FPL says it has restored power to 1.8 million customers, or 83% of those affected by Hurricane Ian.

FPL said Monday it now believes it will be able to restore power sooner than previously thought.

By the end of the day Tuesday, FPL believes they have restored most of the power in northern Manatee County.

By late Wednesday, FPL said it expects power to be restored in southern Manatee County, Collier County and parts of Sarasota County. The Sarasota area they expect to have power by late Wednesday is north of Fruitville Road.

FPL says by the end of the day Friday, it expects power to be mostly restored to all remaining customers in Charlotte, Dezato, Glades, Hendry, Highland, Lee and Sarasota counties.

Florida Power and Light says buildings with extensive damage may not be able to restore power in the same timeframe as buildings without major damage.
